Inconspicuous mosses and lichens hide their blaze of colour from our eyes; only with the help of filters and software can we make the pigments hidden in the deeper layers of the cell membrane visible. Suddenly a splendour of colours unfolds, that is otherwise only known from tropical forests. Isn't that amazing?
